We recently had a few of what I like to call "those days".
You know, the days that begin with your oatmeal boiling over the stove, forgetting your wallet, running behind schedule, nothing terribly wrong or too hard to handle, but still just a bit off and simply not fun. For some reason, I tend to sit down to write about these days more than others.
I get it all out, replay, recap, take a deep breath and I always always end up smiling.
Well, you already know how the day started; oatmeal boiling all over the stove.
Rosie had her six month doctor check up and another set of immunizations. John had a doctor check up and I was fighting the pounding pain of a toothache.
Little Rosie was quite the champ at her appointment, she initially cried for a few minutes and soon forgot what had happened, until her chubby little thighs would get touched or bumped and then she would let out the cutest little whimper and look like "that doesn't feel very good".
Things got better when we stopped by the mall on our way home and played by the water fountains.
(This Florida sunshine sure does change our attitudes)
Look at those delicious chubby legs
Soon my tooth was throbbing all the way up my jaw, just constant. So, a trip to the dentist it was.
This is the part where I got really sad and mad at this day ha! I wished we lived back home, close to family. We had nobody to take care of the little one during the dentist appointment. It worked out- like it always does and I need to remember. As I filled out the form as quickly as possible at the dentist office, "Reason for visit today?"__pain!! I wrote. Sitting in that dreaded chair, I hear the dentist say "Pain, with two exclamation points huh?" as he walks in. Yes I thought to myself, at this point I don't even care what you have to do just pull the damn tooth.
After an x-ray and a chat about the tooth, the verdict: Needs a root canal done.
Estimated cost, this plus that plus this plus that plus a crown plus this and that = about $2,500.
I almost started to cry right there in the dentist chair.
Not only because of the pain, and the cost,
but because of the fact that I knew it meant no trip to Mexico for us anymore. Ha!
We were hoping to meet our sweet friends in Cabo next month.
They invited us to stay at their place and have the best time ever. It would have been perfect.
Rosie and her Bff Lyla Bird were going to have their first trip together, etc. etc. I was pretty bummed, and that's the first thing I said to John as I walked out of the dentist office. Just one of those days. Ha!
We then had a little issue with the antibiotic and nursing, and I panicked because the dentist said it was ok, but the pharmacist said no. Just another little bump in the day. It also worked out.
The next morning we all got to sleep in. Just like always, I woke up to the simple, but wonderful life that I treasure. My sweet baby snuggling next to me and her pup snoring away.
It was then that I thanked my Father in heaven for the blessings I have.
A healthy, beautiful baby girl, a silly pup, a loving husband, family who would do anything for me,
and modern day medicine to make my tooth feel all better.
ah such a crazy day, those are never fun! but you have the best attitude about it! my mom's favorite saying on rough days like those is, "it could be worse!" because it always could be. so sorry about the tooth, love how you were thinking "just pull the damn tooth!" haha

ReplyDeleteLast week was "one of those" weeks for my family. I feel ya on the toothache (currently experiencing one). You have a great attitude about it all (that's half the battle, right?). That picture of the girls sleeping melts my heart!! Here's to better days ahead!!
